Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of questions will it ask me?
The Health Buddy Program will ask you how you are feeling each day and will respond appropriately based on your answer. If you say you are not feeling well, it will ask further questions. The appliance will also ask you for certain vital signs, (such as weight, blood pressure or blood sugar levels) depending on your condition.
Beyond that, the Health Buddy Program delivers personalized questions that are specific to your condition and treatment. For example, if you have diabetes, it will ask you what your blood sugar level is and it may provide information about ways you can control your blood sugar levels. If you are on a medication, it will ask you if you have taken it that day. You'll receive different questions every day.
Do I have to know anything about technology or computers?
No. The Health Buddy appliance is extremely easy to use. It simply plugs into a phone line. When it asks you questions, you only have to push one of the four blue buttons. It requires no technical knowledge or experience.
How much time does it take?
It will take five to ten minutes a day, seven days a week, to answer the questions on the Health Buddy appliance depending on how you feel and respond that day. If you are not feeling well you will be asked more in depth questions about your condition so our doctor can figure out what's wrong.
Will I still get to see my doctor?
Absolutely. The Health Buddy Program is not intended to replace your regular doctor visits. Instead, it supplements those visits with a care manager who checks your Health Buddy appliances each business day.
How much does it cost?
The Health Buddy Program will not cost you anything. The program is sponsored through a project with The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
What if I don't like it?
There is no obligation to continue using the Health Buddy appliance if you decide it's not right for you. Just let your care manager know at any time if you decide to leave the Health Buddy Program.
